Bydd y sesiwn Breakout a’r gweithdy Gladstone 2013 – Tanio Hi! Yn cael eu dyrannu ar sail “cyntaf i’r felin”. Mae’n bosib dilyn y prosiect ar Twitter: @pararchive a gallwch weld y rhaglen “Cipolwg ar y Gwyl” yma.
Madlab Micro, Motorpoint Arena (running 9-5pm on both 1st & 2nd July) @madlab
MadLab Micro is an on-site festival creative zone and showcase for the Pararchive project; a participatory celebration of “hacking” culture for festival-goers and the general public alike.
Hacking – “creative re-/misappropriation” – is pervasive amongst MadLab‘s 50+ communities. Whether it’s creating new digital tools and artworks from low cost or scavenged toys and gadgetry; remixing and upcycling clothing to create one-off pieces better than the sum of their parts; or even biohacking – co-opting the stuff of life for new purposes, from fermentation to personal DNA forensics. In the wider world, the “hacking” ethos has been applied to anything from furniture (e.g. “IKEA hacking”) to food (“Ramen hacking”) and lots more besides.
MadLab Micro brings this exuberant, curiosity-led, creative (and occasionally chaotic) hackers’ lens to the festival. Get involved!
Partners from Arduino, MCR and Bokeh_Yeah! will be exhibiting their Pararchive (and previous) projects and films.
A MadLab Micro stand is also being exhibited at St. David’s Hotel Conference Centre. All activities will be delivered in the medium of English.
Madlab Micro, Motorpoint Arena (yn rhedeg 9am-5pm ar y 1af a’r 2il Gorffennaf) @madlab
Mae MadLab Micro yn barth greadigol ar maes y gwyl ac yn arddangosfa o’r prosiect Pararchive: dathliad cyfranogol o’r diwylliant “hacio” ar gyfer ymwelwyr i’r gwyl yn ogystal a’r cyhoedd.
Hacio – “ail/camddyraniad greadigol” – yn dreiddiol ymhlith y 50+ cymunedau MadLab. Boed yn creu offer a gwaith celf digidol newydd o teganau a theclynnau rhad neu wedi eu chwilota; ailgymysgu ac ailgylchu dilliad i greu darnau unigryw sy’n werth mwy na cyfanswm eu rhannau; neu hyd yn oed “biohacio” – trosi pethau bywyd ar gyfer defnydd newydd, o eplesu i fforensics DNA personol. Yn y byd eang, gall yr ethos “hacio” gael ei weithredu i unrhyw nifer o bethau, gan gynnwys dodrefn (e.e. “IKEA hacking”) a bwyd (“Ramen hacking”) yn ogystal â llawer mwy.
Mae MadLab Micro yn dod â golwg afieithus, chwilfrydedig, creadigol (ac ar adegau anrhefnus) y hacwyr i’r ŵyl. Dewch ac ymunwch!
Bydd James Medd (o Arduino, MCR) ac Adele Myers (o Bokeh_Yeah!) yn arddangos eu prosiectau a ffilmiau o Pararchive (a gynharach).
Mae stondin MadLab Micro hefyd am gael ei arddangos yn y St David’s Hotel Conference Centre. Bydd y gweithgareddau yn cael eu cyflwyo trwy gyfrwng y Saesneg.
Gladstone 2013 – Fired up! (Cogs in the machine) Workshop, 3.30-4.30pm Tuesday July 1st, Dahl Suite, St. David’s Hotel Conference Centre @elliecomposer
GLADSTONE 2013 FIRED UP! was a year-long all age community project culminating in a performance celebrating the pottery industry of Stoke-on-Trent. It wove together archive film and materials held by Gladstone Pottery Museum with original poetry, music and dance.
The Cogs in the machine workshop, a fragment of the original performance is based on the 1848 Scriven Report, which investigated the conditions of child workers in the Potteries. It includes sections of film and the chance to create original music, poetry and dance.
… Imagine what life was like as a child potter – wear a flat cap or apron, create actions and compose sound effects. Use movements from the factory machines, original quotes and role play to inspire a performance exploring the lives of Victorian children working in the Potteries.
Conceived as suitable for KS1 and KS2 students, but all ages will enjoy taking part in this workshop which includes clips from the film of the Fired up! performance in September 2013.
The workshop will be in the medium of English.

Introduction to Pararchive – Breakout session, 11-12.30pm Wednesday July 2nd, Dahl Suite, St. David’s Hotel Conference Centre @pararchive
Do you have a story to tell? Do you like exploring archives? Are you interested in online research with museums?
This session introduces the Pararchive Project, whose main aim is to create a digital toolkit that makes it easier for people to search and use material held in public archives (like those of the BBC or the Science Museum).
The session includes a short film screening of Strike Stories (a previous collaboration between ICS, University of Leeds and the BBC), as well as a taster of our Pararchive community research projects, including select Ceramic City Stories. Help us uncover new shared stories between Bute and Cardiff with Brandanii Archaeology and Heritage, Bute, and investigate their connected cultures and landscapes – do you have any stories or artefacts to share? Using the Science Museum, London as an example, we will also be asking: ‘How can we all access national museum collections?’ Finally, speak to our technology partner, Carbon Imagineering, about the (ongoing) co-design and co-development of our digital resource.
All welcome!
The Breakout session will be in the medium of English.
Cwflwyniad i Pararchive – Sesiwn “Breakout”, 11-12.30pm Dydd Mercher 2il Gorffennaf, Dahl Suite,St. David’s Hotel Conference Centre
Oes gennych chi stori i’w hadrodd? Ydych chi’n hoffi archwilio archifau? Oes gennych chi diddordeb mewn gwaith ymchwil ar-lein gyda amgueddfeydd?
Mae’r sesiwn yma yn cyflwyno’r Prosiect Pararchive, sy’n anelu’n bennaf i greu pecyn gymorth digidol bydd yn ei wneud yn haws i bobl ymchwilio a defnyddio gwybodaeth a gedwir mewn archifdai cyhoeddus (fel rhai y BBC a’r Grŵp Amgueddfeydd Gwyddoniaeth).
Mae’r sesiwn yn cynnwys dangosiad byr y ffilm Strike Stories (cyn brosiect gyda’r BBC), yn ogystal â blas o’n prosiectau ymchwil cymunedol Pararchive, gan gynnwys detholiad o Straeon Dinas Serameg. Helpwch ni i ddarganfod straeon newydd a rennir rhwng Bute a Caerdydd, trwy ymchwilio eu diwylliannau a’u tirweddau cysylltiedig – oes gennych chi straeon neu arteffactau i rannu? Gan ddefnyddio’r Amgueddfa Gwyddoniaeth, Llundain fel enghraifft, byddwn hefyd yn gofyn: “Sut gallwn ni i gyd weld gasgliadau amgueddfeydd genedlaethol?” Hyn i gyd a mwy – mae croeso i bawb!
Bydd y sesiwn “Breakout” yn cael ei gynnal trwy gyfrwng y Saesneg.
Bute Calling!: Co-location discovery walks @parachive
Part 1 (psychogeography) starting at 6pm (to 7pm) on July 1st from the front of St. David’s Hotel
Part 2 (entanglement) starting at 6pm (to 7pm) on July 2nd from the front of St. David’s Hotel
The Pararchive project has raised awareness of a number of connections and places of interest in Butetown related to the Isle of Bute and Stoke-on-Trent. We are hoping that friendships will be made and, maybe in groups or maybe as individual explorers, we will walk into Butetown to experience, record, develop and possibly share stories. What connections can we develop between communities? And, what do we think about and how do we capture visions of places in their current form, from the past and looking to the future?
Details of the rendezvous and the walks will be posted and linked from Connected Communities Festival document section and on the Pararchive Twitter Feed. All welcome!
The walks will be conducted in the medium of English.
If you have any questions then please do get in touch with Fiona on f.philip@leeds.ac.uk.
Bute yn Galw!: Teithiau Cerdded Darganfyddiad
Rhan 1 (“seicodearyddiaeth”) yn cychwyn am 6-7pm ar 1af Gorffennaf o flaen St. David’s Hotel
Rhan 2 (cydberthyniad) yn cychwyn am 6-7pm ar 2il Gorffennaf o flaen st. David’s Hotel
Mae prosiect Pararchive wedi codi ymwybyddiaeth o nifer o gysylltiadau a llefydd o diddordeb yn Butetown sy’n gysylltiedig i Ynys Bute a Stoke-on-Trent. Rydym yn gobeithio y bydd cyfeillgarwch yn cael eu greu ac, efallai mewn grwpiau neu efallai fel ymchwilwyr unigol, byddwn yn cerdded i mewn i Butetown i glywed, cofnodi, datblygu ac o bosibl rhannu straeon. Pa gysylltiadau gallwn ni datblygu rhwng cymunedau? A beth yr ydym ni’n meddwl am, a sut yr ydym ni’n dal canfyddiad o lefydd yn eu ffurf bresennol, o’r gorffennol ac yn edrych tua’r dyfodol?
Bydd manylion y man ac amser cyfarfod yn cael eu postio a’u cysylltu i’r adran ddogfen Gŵyl Cymunedau Cysylltiedig ac ar y Pararchive Twitter Feed. Mae croeso i bawb!
Bydd y teithiau cerdded yn cael eu gynnal trwy gyfrwng y Saesneg.
