Danny Callaghan, Project Coordinator, The Potteries Tile Trail and Ceramic City Stories, Stoke-on-Trent

Danny is a freelance artist and historian, who is interested in urban regeneration, renewal and industrial heritage.  He facilitates The Potteries Tile Trail, a project which maps, explores and shares stories about Stoke-on-Trent’s historic tile industry.  The partnership project is led by The Tiles and Architectural Ceramics Society, and has gained support from the Heritage Lottery Fund’s All Our Stories initiative. Local volunteers have been exploring and uncovering Stoke’s hidden ceramic gems and related stories, in order to produce a dedicated booklet and website resource featuring a series of self-guided walks that aim to encourage others to explore the amazing story of Stoke-on-Trent’s historic and present day tile industry. Danny is also facilitating the Ceramic City Stories group that is currently exploring the people, culture, buildings and landscape that shape the identity of the potteries and ceramic city.
